An Enjoyable ReadI normally don’t read sci-fi but decided to give other genres a go, and was not disappointed。 This book is well-written, action packed with plenty of laugh out loud moments。 The characters really grew on me too。 Would definitely recommend。

Full of action and adventure with a heart warming story。 An excellent book for Space Opera fans。

This book begins a series of space opera/military sci-fi。 The hero and antagonist are both the best of their class and pitted against each other。The narration was good。

Not for meThe book tries very hard to be serious but ends up silly and disjointed。 I don't get often give up on a story but at the half way point I could not go on。 Maybe this story will be to someone else, but not for me。 Not for meThe book tries very hard to be serious but ends up silly and disjointed。 I don't get often give up on a story but at the half way point I could not go on。 Maybe this story will be to someone else, but not for me。 。。。more

Captivating I enjoyed this book and look forward to seeing where this series goes。 I really liked the characters and found them funny just Jim was a little too much for me at times but overall I really liked it。

I had a COMPLETE BALL with The Crimson Deathbringer! All the fun and action I want with sci-fi -- with humor and movie-quotes to boot。 Can't wait to get my hands on The Golden Viper。 I had a COMPLETE BALL with The Crimson Deathbringer! Not for meI made it to the 27% mark before I couldn’t do it anymore。 I tried to like this。 I really did。 But the reveals were too predictable, the space combat was terrible and uninspired, not to mention unbelievable, the characters were beyond stupid, and the mind control schtick was just the final straw。 The writing was okay but I just couldn’t do it。

One hell of a good sci-fi!I loved this book。 It is full of humour and action as well as scientific ingenuity。 It also contains drama, tragedy and despair。 Aliens are coming to conquer Earth and they plan to eventually destroy humanity as well。 A few daring and somewhat feckless human heroes with the help of two members of yet another alien race get together to stop them。

I went into this audio book without any prior knowledge of the author or narrator, but I figured that it was high time I dove into another Space Opera, and possibly a military Space Opera novel at that。。。 and boy was I surprised by what I got! This book is so different from the same-old, same-old。。。 and I absolutely loved it! A good readA good read that got me more and more interested as I read chapter after chapter。 I was looking for another author I could follow and find books to read and glad I tried this book。 I hope the rest are up to this standard as then I have a few more books to read。

Well written。 Good basic alien invasion sci-fi。The usual tropes, slightly jumpy, very predictable。 The dialog is superior and action sequences are much better than average。 If I only read one book of this style I would have enjoyed it more, sadly I have read far too many。

Lots of blood, violence, death and nerd sci-fi referencesThe story builds in intensity with lots of casualties on both sides。 The human protagonists fight desperately but many don’t survive。 Mixed in with the end of the world drama is some humor, pranking, and snarky male ego。 There are lots of POV shifts, and many characters。 Like Bond girls, once the hero likes them, the favored characters don’t survive long。 The pro-human aliens are quirky; the enemy aliens are basically space-faring human ba Lots of blood, violence, death and nerd sci-fi referencesThe story builds in intensity with lots of casualties on both sides。 The human protagonists fight desperately but many don’t survive。 Mixed in with the end of the world drama is some humor, pranking, and snarky male ego。 There are lots of POV shifts, and many characters。 Like Bond girls, once the hero likes them, the favored characters don’t survive long。 The pro-human aliens are quirky; the enemy aliens are basically space-faring human barbarians with blue blood。 There’s no need for negotiations as executions are much more efficient。 Gazillions of people die through a variety of causes—telepathic brain melting, space shootouts, ground combat engagements, and assassinations。There’s some relationship building, some political layering, lots of banter, and lots of death。 Did I mention that key characters get biffed? Yeah。 Was sort of a shock, and I had to reread to see if it was a prank。 Big sigh。 Nope。 Just lots of characters trimmed out of the story by the end。 The ones who are left are not ones I found to be very compelling, so I won’t be reading the next book。 There are lots of typos—mostly missing words。 Some spelling errors。 And lots of killing。 Yeah, so the few characters who survive are going to need medication and trauma therapy。 Reader, consider yourself warned。 。。。more

This was a bit of a disappointment。 Maybe I should have been paying more attention to all the superlatives and references to Game of Thrones in the book blurb。 It is usually not a good sign when the author embellishes the book blurb with a bunch of nonsense like that。Anyway, the story idea was not too bad but it’s implementation was。 There’s just too many elements that I do not like in this book。For starters the writing is mostly of cheap TV-Show quality。 Sometimes a book can be a fun read anywa This was a bit of a disappointment。 Maybe I should have been paying more attention to all the superlatives and references to Game of Thrones in the book blurb。 It is usually not a good sign when the author embellishes the book blurb with a bunch of nonsense like that。Anyway, the story idea was not too bad but it’s implementation was。 There’s just too many elements that I do not like in this book。For starters the writing is mostly of cheap TV-Show quality。 Sometimes a book can be a fun read anyway but in this book it is not。 The Akakies are supposedly the galaxies “pranksters”。 Well that might have been fine if it was done with a bit of finesse but here it is just juvenile for the most part。 It is also done in all the wrong places。 Hot tip: don’t piss of the people you’re expecting to help your race survive! Then there is the unnecessary moralizing and finger pointing。 An author trying to shove his moral and social opinions down the readers throat is a star-remover for me。 The author makes a big fuss about smoking which was totally unnecessary。There is also a lot of mentions of racism but it is mostly nonsense statements and you get the feeling that the author desperately tries to cater for the woke audience。 Statements like “If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, it’s a freaking racist。” coming out of the blue with little or no context or rationalization behind it has no place in a book targeted for even a half-intelligent audience。The book is part of a series but I think I will give the rest of the series a pass。 。。。more

Really badI don’t normally post reviews but I thought maybe I could save someone from this waste of time。 The plot, the characters, the pseudoscience were all just plain bad。 I couldn’t finish the whole thing, and that is saying a lot。

I don't usually write a review but I thought it's only fair to support a good author if you want them to write more books and become a full time author ;)Even though this is Sean's first book but he's no amateur (After all you can't judge a book by it's cover!) All of the 5 star reviews must be from family and friends - this one had a lot of potential, but it was really ruined with an overabundance of on-liners, gags, movie quotes, etc。, in an unsuccessful attempt at humor that would appeal to junior high boys; it reminds me of advice I received in a high school speech class that went along the lines of don’t try to be funny if you’re not。 Take that out, along with a good editor, and this one had the potential to be really good and make me want to read All of the 5 star reviews must be from family and friends - this one had a lot of potential, but it was really ruined with an overabundance of on-liners, gags, movie quotes, etc。, in an unsuccessful attempt at humor that would appeal to junior high boys; it reminds me of advice I received in a high school speech class that went along the lines of don’t try to be funny if you’re not。 Take that out, along with a good editor, and this one had the potential to be really good and make me want to read the sequel。 As it is, I feel like I lost several hours of my life and won’t be continuing to the sequel。 If you are a science fiction fan, I would give this one a pass。 。。。more

。。。more

Kick@$$ Sci-fi。。。。。。 with a sense of humor。 Good writing and likeable characters, but the author seems to take entirely too much pleasure in killing them off
